Swatchtime: MAC Long Stemmed Rose

Hey ladies,
I wanted to show you guys a swatch and I think I'll try to do a "swatchtime" every saturday or sunday, atleast once per week :)
Today I'm starting with a MAC product, I know this one is discontinued but its still a favourite vibrant rose. It's Long Stemmed Rose Slimshine lipstick by MAC, its a beautiful rose colour from mac with gold microshimmers in it. I find it more vibrant than other rose colours: it has more pink shades in it.
It's really lovely and glides on easily and smoothly leaving a pretty opaque colour behind.

Review: Watts Up by Benefit

Hey ladies,
Back here to report another clever and witty product by Benefit. The "Watts Up" Highlighter is a champagne highlighter, perfect for every-if not most-skintones.

Benefit's Description
"Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen."

My Review

It's a beautiful champagne highlighter with very very small microshimmers-neutral/goldtoned. A little goes a long way with this one-the pigmentation is great! You CAN put on too much highlighter and you will look like a disco ball if you're not careful. As long as you put a light swatch on your highlight zones and make sure to blend it out-you'll be okay. This is pretty flattering on all skintones. It can lean cool if you're cooltoned and it can lean warmer if you have a warmer skintone-it's a nice neutral champagne.
The wear is great! I put it over top of my blush/powder and it lasts ALL day: from 9am putting it on to 7pm coming home, so about 8 hours or more.
The packaging is freaking ADORABLE; it shaped like a light-bulb! Can't get much cuter than that.
I also really like the twist top solid highlighter-kind of like the NARS multiples. Super easy to just swipe in on the areas and blend out. The soft knob spong at the end really has no use, you could use it to blend out but I feel as though it would take off more product than it would blend. For now I'm blending with my fingers and leaving the sponge tip as a packaging aesthetic.
The texture is super smooth, not gritty or dry, it doesn't pull or tug when you put it on. See for yourself in the swatches!

Would I repurchase this? Absolutely, I use it everyday and i definitely helps "illuminate" my skin :)

OPI Naming Process

Hey ladies!
I found the cutest and most interesting video on youtube today! The OPI naming process. Have you guys ever wondered who and how they name all the OPI nailpolishes? Well the "Today's Show" delves right into that question with this little video:

Skincare: 5 Things You Still Need To Do during Winter

Winter is a season where we need to [usually] change up our skin routine since the weather becomes colder and drier. But there are a few key things we do during summertime that we still need to do even during the winter and all year round.

Image from:

1. Moisturize. This may seem like a no-brainer, but during all times of year, you must moisturize your face for your skintype. This keeps your face hydrated and soft-especially if you have dry skin. If you have oily/combination skin, it helps keep oils at bay which may seem a bit counterintuitive and hydrates your skin.  It's like a tall, cool drink of water for your skin :) (this goes for your body as well-moisturize!)

2. Exfoliate. Again a no-brainer, especially for you girls that love to exfoliate :) Living in a city I get hit with cold, dry winds, pollutants in the air, not to mention I touch my face all day long (gross right?). All this can cause bacteria and dirt that clog my pores, and that exacerbate the first layer of dead skin cells. It's important to get rid of dead cells so you dont get spots, zits or blackheads/whiteheads. That is not to say that if you have them they will go away overnight with a good scrub. To keep these at bay you have to have a good skincare routine.

3. Wear Sunscreen. This one may not be so obvious, especially in the winter. But UV rays can even be more harmful when there's snow on the ground. Snow reflects the light back to our face and exposed skin, allowing more sunlight to hit your face. It's so important to have a good SPF moisturizer since it helps prevent dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles. Don't forget to apply it to your neck and decolletage! Check out Littomokaa's blog post video for a couple good ones she suggests during her skin care routine!

4. Wear Sunglasses. Just like for the reason #3, snow reflects sunlight and days may seem brighter when the sun is out for that reason. We also tend to squint when it's that bright out, therefore it's important to wear sunglasses so your eyes don't acquire any damage and for fine/lines and wrinkles.

5. Drink Water. Last but definitely not least, it may not be as hot and you may not be as inclined to drink water in the winter, but make no mistake it is just as important to drink 8 glass of water a day. Water helps flush out toxins that harm you inside and out and keeps your skin hydrated. Fluids like broth in soups also help in the same ways.

Do you ladies have any winter skincare tips?

Birthday FOTN

About three weeks ago it was my 23rd birthday. It's silly really, I still feel seventeen, but the world tells me im 23. In honor of my birthday a few girlfriends came down to visit me and we went out for a night of fun!
This was the makeup look I decided on that night.
I was wearing a red strapless dress with the bandeau detailing. Super sexy.

Mini Haul: F21 and MAC

I need to stop looking at makeup. As soon as I see makeup it's so shinny and glittery and full of wonderful possibilities... I buy it. Then my wallet hates me. I think one day I'll end up starving for fashion and makeup. That's where Forever 21 gets me. I'll be waiting in line to buy a simple shirt, etc. and there are these bins full of makeup and nailpolishes. I'm thinking "oooooooh" and then I get up to the cash with a handful of goodies and I'm thinking "shitttt".
FW problems. haha
On that note, here's my little haul of F21 and one MAC eyeshadow:

MAC "all that glitters eyeshadow", F21 eyeshadow palette and F21 6 nail files (they were only a dollar!!)

F21 eyeshadow palette

MAC "all that glitters"

I guess the damage isn't too bad. Little hauls help satiate the addiction ;)

Do you ladies buy makeup from F21?

Black Cherry Chutney by OPI

This will be a short post, I've been so swamped with this assignment.
As a break on friday, I went to get my nails done at a salon. It's so nice to be pampered once in a while.
The colour I choose I instantly fell inlove with:
Black Cherry Chutney
by OPI

It's this beautiful vampy plummy deep burnt red-toned colour with these purple/red microglitters.
I think it's perfect for Fall. I  haven't seen a sexier nail colour. I know now that I absolutely have to purchase a bottle. Luckily there's a salon nearby that does sell this colour and I'm so excited to go purchase it!

Here are some more links with swatches of Black Cherry Chutney

October Favsies

Somehow these favourites posts are always so late.
Better late than never right? I just have to say I didn't really have anything I was INLOVE with this October. I was so busy with birthday, schoolwork and work that I guess I forgot to go crazy over one product! I don't even think that makes sense.

Eau Roma Toner- This is obviously a sample, but once this runs out, I'm definitely purchasing a full bottle. This really seals in the moisture and helps keep my skin looking healthy and radiant.

MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NC20- A little goes a long way. This is very seamless (if you get the right colour) and glides on super smoothly. I haven't tried too many concealers but I really like this one.

L'Oreal Eyeshadow Perle in Copper Penny- I've really been liking this as a lid wash, its a rusted coral but it gives a beautiful sheen for everyday wear.

Rimmel Lipstick in Airy Fairy 070- This is just a beautiful natural, pink lipcolour. Easy to pair with any look and such a good price!

What are your favourites at the moment?

Fall's Bold Lip FOTN

As some of you may know, it was my birthday recently! I definitely got a few cosmetic items for my birthday-since my friends know how much I love cosmetics and about my blog. I also went out a few times with friends and had some friends visit during the weekend. Which means...I have a few FOTNs to show you guys.
Since it's fall, I've really wanted a good reason to wear a beautiful dark red colour. I love my Rouge Coco Chanel in Rivoli and wearing it is divine

I went pretty simple with the eyes since I'm wearing a super bold lipstick.

MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow--browbone and inner corner
L'Oreal eyeshadow in Copper Penny--all over the lid
Covergirl Lashblash Waterproof Mascara in Black
MUFE Aqualine eyeliner in Black--tightline and upper outer corner

MAC prolongwear concealer in NC20
MAC mineralize skinfinish in Medium Plus
MAC sheertone blush in Pinch O' Peach
Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter

Nivea Lipbalm Essential- I had added this a bit before to moisturize my lips
Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Rivoli 21

Rivoli  has to be my all time favourite deep red lipstick!

What's your favourite bold lipcolour this season?

Haul: Lusting for Lush.

Happy November!
Or movember as all my friends like to call it
Who here likes this month as movember? I support Prostate Cancer Research but sometimes the boys take the moustaches a little too far.
I finally went to lush to grab an exfoliator for my lips. Since fall is already becoming so dry and winter is fast approaching my lips have periods of being super dry. Exfoliator is always handy to have to remove the dryness! It's also my first lip exfoliator.
So here's what I got:

Woohoo! Angels on Bareskin, Mint Julep lip scrub and Eau Roma toner as a sample!

Look at all the sugar crystals...

Almond pieces to exfoliate in Angels on Bareskin.

So far I am really loving the angels on bareskin + eau roma toner. At nighttime I'll wash my face with Angels on Bareskin and pat on the Eau Roma toner and my skin is looking so clean, and fresh. I was out with a friend last night and she said "your skin looks great!"
It was so great to hear because I've been working so hard to find a great skin cleansing/moisturizing combo!
