May Favourites

I'm incredibly lethargic with these posts. I always want to do them, and then never get around to it.
So anyways, I have a few May favourites I wanted to share with you. These are products I use all the time, everyday or just have a lot of fun using this month.

Philosophy Healthy Cream Blush in Look On the Bright Side 03- This is just a really easy to use blush. I just blend it quickly on my cheeks with my fingers and it literally does give me a very nice flushed glow. It doesn't last more than 5-6 hours but it's easy to use and a good product for summer.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Amber Rush- I didn't love this at first, but it grew on me a lot! I was expecting something different. But once I put it on a few times I discovered that it's really great for my skintone and as an everyday look. It's a metallic rose-bronze and metallics are very in for the summer and I am therefore inlove.

MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze- I got this 2 summers ago in Athens, Greece. I've since hit the pan but I only use a bit to even out the colour of my skin with my face (since I don't like when my face tans much). It should last me another summer and I much prefer matter bronze or ones with very little shimmer.

MAC Lipstick in Chatterbox (Amplified)- I know I just posted about this colour, but I of course love it. It's a bright pink lipstick that's perfect for spring/summer.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face SPF 60- I wear this everyday (or atleast I try to) but I definitely wear this when tanning and when I'm outside on a very bright sunny day. I can't stress it enough, it's so important to wear this for sun damage! No matter what colour your skin is!

What have you been loving lately?

Chatterbox Swatches!

Bonjour Les Belles,

I bought a new lipstick a few months ago... I know what you're thinking how could I have kept this from you?? After all makeup addicts love to do haul pics ASAP!
I love wearing this colour just whenever. A rainy day or when I want simple makeup and a WOW lip or when I'm feeling particularly bright or particularly dull. Either way, this is a lipstick for any mood! A favourite category of mine.
I ended up comparing it to Ruby Woo, another bright lippie I love. Even though I have a few pinks I thought it made more sense to compare brights with brights.

SkinCare for your SunCare!

Hey beautiful ladies,
I have something important to share with youuuu!
Skincare for the Sun!
It's so much more important than you think. It can cause cancers, damage, wrinkles, etc. on your face and on your body. It's lovely to tan but please use sunscreen!!
It's been beautifully sunny here in Montreal lately and its caused me to think alot about my skin before I go outside.
I got this great info-sheet produced by Olay from Temptalia, she just posted this and I thought it was so important to share with all of you.
It says to use spf 15 or higher, but my rule is 30 or higher (esp for the face!) but even for the body I use spf 30 OR higher. Right now for my face and decollete I'm using spf 60 from Neutrogena whenever I go out into the sun. It's oil free and so far no breakouts from it! Yay! For my body I use 30 spf from a no name brand from a drugstore here in Quebec.

What brand of sunscreen or suncare is your favourite?
Have fun out there my sunbabies, and be safe ;)

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse, Sparkle baby!

Bonjooooour les belles filles!
Does anyone else feel that as soon as summer weather hits all you want to do is frolic around the city and suntan all day long
It's hard to concentrate on work these days with all the beautiful sunshine!

So this was my first Nuxe product, ever. And I love it! To be honest I only use it in the summer because I have the version that has little gold flecks in it so its a bit too shimmery for daily use in the other seasons.
I't s dry oil: it 6 precious plant oils (borage, St Johnswort, sweet almond, camellia, hazelnut, macadamia) and it has a sweet and subtle scent. Nuxe says that its suitable for all skin and hairtypes.

Direct Nuxe Quote:
"The NUXE Amazing Dry Gold Oil has a super-activated formula that combines 30% of precious plant oils and vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften face, body and hair in a single gesture.
This oil leaves your face and body soft and velvety, whilst your hair becomes supple, glossy and full of volume. Thanks to its small golden particles, your skin glitters and reveals its beauty whenever you move."

Pigmentation: As beauty bloggers we always talk about pigmentation but for a dry oil you DON'T want pigmentation or for it to "leak". With that I mean you want to put it on and absorb into your skin and not leak and stain your clothes. Now this guy does not leave oil stain, but since it has those gold flecks it'll make your clothes quite sparkly-just a warning. I haven't tried the gold-free formula but I sorely doubt that it oil-stains clothes.
Wear and Texture: I can tell you that the wear is great, it absorbs well and my skin feels so nice and soft for the whole day. I tried it on my ends once and they seems indifferent to the treatment but I'll have to try it out again. The texture is oily, duh. It absorbs quickly, and the texture of your skin is so silky.
Packaging: I do like packaging but for me it won't make or break a good product. If I think something is product well and would be good, the looks aren't always a huge deal. Although, I wont lie, beautiful packaging is the first thing that pulls me into a new product. The packaging for this guy is meh, it could definitely be cuter.
Price: Oof! Nuxe products are pricey. Not as bad as Laura Mercier, Chanel or Sisley but I had to think about it before buying. I think in Canada the 100ml (bigger size bottle) is about 44$.
Would I repurchase it? Yes. This product has definitely opened my eyes to the world and wonder of dry oils and I would also be very open any other oils!

Have you guys tried any dry oils? What do you think about this one?

Also! I'm looking for some new beauty/fashion blogs to follow, if you gals know any good ones lemme know! I'm also hoping to make this a bilingual (English and French) blog in the near future, since I live in Montreal-lemme know what you think ;)

Oh yes! A Philosophy cosmetics haul!

As most of you might've heard, Big Lots was selling some Philosophy products. Why? I have no idea!
These products retail from 22-30$ a pop and Big Lots was selling for 3$ each! Brand new, still in original packaging and most were unharmed. I tried to control myself but ended up buying 3 different products that I had seen on blogs or was just intrigued to try out!
I got a healthy cream blush in look on the bright side 03, the "grace" shimmering face powder, and the bronzer and blush duo in hugs and kisses.
From the left: Healthy Cream Blush in Look on the Bright Side 03, Grace face powder, Blush/Bronzer duo in Hugs and Kisses.

So far I've tried the blush and the Grace powder. The healthy cream blush is not very strong pigmented but it does give a nice healthy pink glow and you can layer it on. I haven't worn it for an 8 hour day yet but it does last well for 3-4 hrs. Does anyone want a review on the blush product? The Grace powder is really nice, its quite pigmented so I'd only be using this product as a highlighter. The compact and packaging is beautiful though!

From the top: Bronzer from hugs and kisses, Blush from hugs and kisses due, Grace shimmering powder and the healthy cream blush

The philosophy products are also free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, sulfates, propylene glycol and peg.
(This is the back of the Grace box)

Did you ladies get a chance to grab some of these items? Have you tried philosophy cosmetics before?

Rose Truffles

Thesis writing is taking over my life along with applications.
I have to admit though, I love to keep busy. :P

Anywho, a while back I was curious to try one of these lipbalm/lipstick combos. So I picked up one of Revlon's Lipbutters and tried it out. I was going to go for a super cute candy pink colour but instead I chose Pink Truffle 001.
I know you guys have probably already tried these guys but I still wanted to talk about it!

Pigmentation: For a lipbalm lipstick hybrid it gives a very nice sophisticated dark rose colour, and has GREAT pigmentation!
Packaging: I love the packaging, every lipbalms' packaging corresponds to its actual colour. The diamond pattern appears on two side of the cover, the other two being smooth. I love the modes "Revlon" symbol at the bottom. The only thing I don't like about this packaging is the little piece of clear plastic at the tip of the cover; it cheapens the look!
Wear and Texture: The wear is about 2-3 hours for me, 4 hours on a good day. It's short wear but it is a lipbalm/lipstick hybrid so its not too surprising. The texture is super smooth and its very comfortable to put on!
Product: The product itself is great, it gives me a bit of colour and hydration while not being too sloppy to put on. Alot of the time I find tinted lipbalms too soft and its easy to look like a clown putting them on. But this has just the right amount of balm and colour to keep the texture correct and comfortable.
Price: In Canada its about 8-9$ and In the States about 5-6$

Would I purchase this again? Yes definitely, I would try another colour though :) I'm very eager to try "Cotton Candy" it looks like a very bright doll pink!

Have you guys tried any balm/lipstick hybrids? I want to try L'Oreals' next!

Pure Clean by Garnier Fructis

Toronto is such a different city from Montreal.
And it's strange, because they're only 7 hrs (driving) away from each other. Toronto reminds me a bit of the movie Inception, with its' tall grey buildings and cold city-style, or as my mom calls it "an americanized canadian city". It's true, but as much as it is more "americanized" it's a wonderful change at times :)
So now that I'm here and staying with a friend for a few days I decided to bring a sample of Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Shampoo and Conditioner to try. This shampoo is their "environmentally friendly and biodegradable" product with the slogan: Highest efficiency on hair, lowest impact on the environment. I'm not going to list the ingredients but here is the website for reference and product ingredients:

My hair is pretty good about shampoos, as long as I wash it everyday it's always bouncy and shiny. There are times when I've used a very moisturizing shampoo and my roots end up being greasy on a few hours after cleaning. Ridiculous. At 9 a.m. this morning in the shower, before heading to my friends' office, I used said products. The result? Well, my hair feels clean so far, definitely freefalling and bouncy. (but that's like...everyday...)
I'll update a bit later if I feel any different.
What I really want to discuss is my experience in the shower. (with the shampoo of course!)
I squeezed the shampoo out of the sample pack and it's this very thin, extremely transparent (think water) liquid. It's a little more viscous (thick, slow running fluid) than water but alot thinner than my shampoo (L'Oreal Sulfate Free Voluminous for Coloured Hair). As I start to wash my hair, it lathers for about 3 seconds and then disappears: at this point I'm thinking "Did I wash my hair?"so I use the rest of the sample pack just incase. I rinse, then its time for the conditioner. Conditioner is white, like most, and smells quite atypical for something you'd put in your hair. The consistency is nice, but the smell is very earthy; I add it to my ends and it literally melts into my hair, again I'm thinking "Where did the conditioner go? LOL".
At that point I was very confused, I had no idea if my hair had been washed or conditioned.
Would I purchase this shampoo after this experience? Probably not, I know its a "green" product and that's great but I need a product that I can trust to clean my hair and I'm not 100% sure it did anything. I also really appreciate a nice lather in the morning, it just feels nice during a 9 a.m. shower!
Price point: 4$ in the U.S. and approximately 8$ in Canada (per bottle).

Have you ladies tried any biodegradable and environmentally friendly shampoos?

A Little goes a Long way

I tried hot yoga last night!
I wasn't sure if I was going to live afterwards, or maybe that I would be a different person with all the humidity and heat entering my body.
Nope, still the same, just happy to be a survivor! I kind of like the burn/soreness I feel today. I didn't think I would feel sore but I do and its great! I recommend it, 75mins goes faster than you think it would.

A couple weeks ago, I went to the Alesso concert/show here in Montreal. It was great, the crowd was wild; my friend and i got trampled on and pushed around. The music was amazing, and I would definitely do it again (maybe a little less pushing around tho). To honour the night, I did a cool and funky eye. (okay so its not that funky, but to me its a little something different :) )

I guess the funkiness (for me) is the gold eyeliner. I love using gold eyeliner for nights out in the spring/summer. But I find it a little much for daytime. The only downside that Ive discovered while using gold eyeliner is that if you put on a thick line of gold it looks mega cheesy. I did something like that for New Years and was really not pleased. On Alesso night, I did a thinner line and really like the results!

MAC Ricepaper (highlight)
Smashbox Be Discovered mauvey rose eyeshadow (eyelid)
Korres E/S (crease)-one of my favs!
Urban Decay 24/7 liquid eyeliner in El Dorado
MUFE Aqualine in 10 (black)
Covergirl Lashblast in Waterproof Very Black

What looks are you loving this season?
