Strikingly Sweet Januaries

The busy-ness of the month never ceases to overwhelm me.
On top of that, I have aggressive sniffles that won't leave me alone which have decided to drain me of energy. Wonderful.
I've come to vacation in our incredible world of beauty, with some January favourites.

Bioderma Sebium for normal/oily skintypes: everywhere raved about this product so I got the small size to try it, and its true! It cleans every last bit of dirt and makeup off ultra gently without drying my skin, especially around the eyes.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Natural Beauty: What can I say, this is just a beautiful pop of colour on the cheeks in any season really, but I'm truly grateful for it this winter.

MAC lipstick in Love Godess: This lipstick is from the Marilyn Monroe collection and it's just a beautiful shade of deep ruby fuchsia. I love to wear it when I need a pop of colour or I'm just feeling particularly sassy ;) .

Josie Maran Argan Oil: A new love, and I've only used it a few times, but I've put it on my ends, my face and my skin-it moisturizes all of them without leaving them greasy/oily!

The Body Shop Body Butter: This specific one is in cocoa butter but all of them are great and they make them for any skin type-normal, dry, very dry etc. These might be a little heavy for summer but perfect for fall/winter.

Have you ladies tried any of these products? What are your January favourites?

January Ipsy Glambag

Hey Ladies!

Work has been crazy this past month and will keep being crazy until the end of February, so I may not be blogging too much but I'm going to try. I do miss it.
I wanted to tell you about the monthly Ipsy Glambag that I signed up for! I signed up for it in January, so this month, and I'm planning on sticking with it. For each bag, subscribers receive about 4-5 sample sizes, and maybe a couple full size products too, in a makeup bag! That's about 4-5 items plus a makeup bag. For my first bag, I got some great goodies that I'm excited to share with you!

January Ipsy Glambag

The package I got in the mail, bright pink, so cute!!

I got (left to right): Soho Crease Brush, Mini Big Sexy Hair hairspray, Nailtini polish in Bloody Mary, Pacifica Body Butter in Tuscan Blood Orange and the Josie Maran Argan Oil. All of these were the mini versions, bigger than sample size but not full size, except the Nailtini polish and the Crease brush-which were full size.

Bloody Mary on my nails, what a nice warm red!

So far I really like everything in my bag and I can really see myself using all of these products. The argan oil is fabulous; I've used it a couple times and its starting to become a must have for the winter season-especially this dry and cold season in Montreal!

I will comment and say that while the Nailtini polish is beautiful it does peel/chip fairly quickly, after 2-3 days, even with a topcoat! Although, I'm wondering if it's because of my dry nails during this time of year.

With every Ipsy bag you also get certain deals and discounts on the brands that were included. That can be a great little bonus if you really fall in love with any of the products and want to try the full size versions or even something else from that line/brand.

What do you ladies think of the Ipsy January bag?
Since I live in Canada the Ipsy bags are about 15$CAD. I'm billed at the beginning of the month and my bag arrived in the middle of January. The best part about these is that every month you get a makeup bag with it as well, which other monthly makeup bags don't include!

I'm definitely looking forward to the February bag!

NOTD: Essie She's Pampered

Oh and I am, I'm pampered, or atleast I'd like to be. I just want to have a full spa day with every amenity included: massages, facials, full body wraps, exfoliation, relaxing in a sauna or by relaxing stream with lovely scented candles. Of course, that takes a very disposable budget and some vacation time as well. A girl can dream, right?
Anyways, until that day in my life arrives, I purchased Essie She's Pampered to keep me hopeful.

I consider this to be a neutral red, it's a classic colour: not too bright but not unnoticed either. It's a true neutral red, in my opinion. It's very nice but if you already have a favourite red nail colour, you can definitely pass this one. Unless you love to obsessively collect red nailpolish and you must have them all! I find that this also chips very easily and leaves red marks everywhere, even with a top coat.

What do you ladies think of this?

Swatchtime: NARS Tropic Eyeshadow

I'm so spoiled. I do love it when friends know exactly what to get me. It's like they're giving me a little piece of them all wrapped up in what I like!
I got this beautiful NARS shadow (from a very beautiful friend, I might add!), and honestly I don't have anything like it in my makeup collection.
NARS Tropic Eyeshadow.
A beautiful dusty dark peacock blue with these chunky silver glitters.

I haven't had the chance to create a look with it yet, but I'm so excited to use this in a look.  :)

Have you guys used a shadow of this colour? What do you think?

Spotlight: Haus of Gloi - Vegan Skincare

As some of you may already know I've been really into skincare and the brands that offer such products. I was browsing Temptalia's blog one night in the last months and I came across some of her favourite, smaller and lesser-known, brands: Haus of Gloi. This brand delivers fine vegan bath products that are truly cruelty-free and made with natural ingredients.

I ended up getting two pumpking butter (basically body butters), two emulsions and two sugar scrubs. All at 2 oz, the sample size that is available.

Everything was wrapped as if they were little bon-bons (treats, candies) and it was so cute. Just like opening presents at christmas, one by one.

All items are sealed upon receipt.

This is one of Haus of Gloi's soft bubbling scrub, said to exfoliate and foam up to a lovely lather. It also contains shea butter to moisturize after exfoliation.

A sugar scrub, exactly what you expect the texture to be, quite like a thick paste.

One of their vegan lipbalms, in peach milk. Texture is a nice balance between waxy and oily. Have you ever noticed that some balms are waxier and some are oilier than others? The preference among people is relative as well, some people prefer waxy lipbalms and some prefer oilier ones.

Pumpkin Butter in Litchi Milk Tea.

You can purchase everything on the website for Haus of Gloi in many different scents.

What do you ladies think? I'll be doing reviews on the two types of scrubs in the near future. I'm already in love with the pumpkin butter, it's got a lovely silky texture and absorbs right into the skin without leaving a residue.

Striking Sweet Decembers (2012)

Surprisingly, December went exactly the way I had planned it to go. Lots of Christmas shopping (and a little bit for myself...there were such good sales), present wrapping, exchanging, holiday parties, dinners, oh you name it! And I loved it.
Unexpected were my December favourites. It's just a small list, but it all packs a very good punch. These products are gorgeous and create a super stunning look. I don't use them everyday but I might start...

Sonia Kashuk Flat-Top Kabuki Brush: This is amazing for blending in powder foundation or for buffing in setting powder after I use a liquid/cream foundation. It's super dense and works the makeup to look flawless on my face.

Urban Decay Waterproof Liquid 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion: Blackest eyeliner I have ever met. It also stays put and dries very quickly after application so it basically never smudges on me.

Chanel Crayon Khol in Blanc: This pencil is so long, they give you so much product and a sharpener! It works great on my lower lashline waterline to give me a very open and wide-eyed look. Great for my "doe-eyes". ;)

Dior Celebration Collection Makeup Palette for the Eyes (2012): I was so inlove with this beautiful palette that I hadn't even used it. Last weekend, while shopping I was finally able to take it out for a spin. The three eyeshadows make for a remarkable and sexy smokey brown eye for brunettes with brown eyes. It turned out so elegant and helped me purchase a few more clothing items I didn't need ;). You can always put on more of the darker colour for a nighttime eye.
This palette has inspired me to try some more Dior eye makeup, when I have the extra change.

So what are your December or 2012 favourites? I always love to hear from you.

And if you like my blog, please follow me. Suggestions always welcome :)

FOTN: Ice Queen

Now I'm a warm-tone kind of girl through and through but there's something to be said about the coolness of the "ice queen" look. As intense as fire, and almost as dangerous, ice exudes a certain kind of mystery. This look I dedicate to the beautiful, but withering winter cold.

Revlon Whipped Foundation in 250 Medium Beige
MAC ProLongwear Concealer in NC20
MUFE HD Microfinish Powder

MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow (highlight)
Benefit Mermaid eyeshadow (lid colour)
MAC Antiqued eyeshadow (crease colour)
Chanel Crayon Khol in Blanc
Urban Decay 24/7 liquid liner in Black
Covergirl Waterproof Lashblast Mascara in Black

MAC lipstick in Hue

What do you ladies think? I really loved creating and wearing this look out.
