Swatchtime | Chanel Rouge Coco and Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks

6/27/13

Does anyone else use the saying "so many swatches to do, so little time"? Or maybe you just use the "so little time" bit instead, which is exactly what I've been feeling lately.
There are tremendous amounts of things to fill the day with!
On this particular day, I chose to fill my day with lip swatches of these wonderful Chanel samples:
Rouge Coco Shines: Fiction, Saga, Monte Carlo and the Rouge Coco Lipstick in Le Baiser

From left to right: Rouge Coco Shines in Fiction, Saga, Monte Carlo and the Rouge Coco Lipstick in Le Baiser

Bare Lips

Rouge Coco Shine in Saga

Rouge Coco Shine in Monte Carlo

Rouge Coco Lipstick in Le Baiser

Rouge Coco Shine in Fiction

Since I already have a Rouge Coco Shine and a Rouge Coco Lipstick I know the textures and qualities of these lippies and I die-hard love them (and anything Chanel, so maybe I'm a little biased). I will say that I find Monte-Carlo to be a little too sheer for my liking (and for the $40 price tag) so I can say I wouldn't purchase that one.
I really love Saga and Le Baiser and would most likely purchase those two if I was in the market for lippies. Saga, even though its a Shine lippie, is actually quite opaque and imparts a beautiful pink-nude that would show up on more pigmented lips than mine. Le Baiser is beautiful bright pink that would also look lovely on yellow-based or pink-based skintones alike.
If you're the kind of girl that's hesitant to wear full-on dark lipcolour but still wants to try out the trend, then I would recommend Fiction, you can layer it on accordingly to get a more sheer finish or a more opaque colour.

What did you ladies think of these swatches? Love em or leave em?

Swatchtime | Butter London in Kerfuffle

6/26/13

There's nothing better than purchasing a coveted new make-up or beauty item in my books! I've been longing looking at butter London polishes for a while now, watching them grow in popularity amongst friends and the beauty world alike, but never daring to purchase one. Well a few weekends ago, during the Mural Fest in Montreal, I stumbled upon a yoga studio, of all places, and purchased my very first bottle!

I was excited to try my very desired little product, but definitely disappointed in certain aspects.

Kerfuffle, what a name! I wonder how they came up with that...

Pretty Butter packaging

The colour is a very nice pink-coral, although easily dupable. I saw it and just couldn't pass it up! These types of colours always look good against olive skintone, failproof.
I find this colour (and maybe other Butters?) to be quite thick and goopy, their a little harder to apply than the thinner OPI, Essie and Orly polishes yet this Butter tends to settle down quite smoothly - despite being goopy during the application. I've worn it for a couple days without a topcoat and no chips! A very good quality.
Butter London nail polishes are 3 free, meaning that they do not contain formaldehyde, toluene or DBP (which are all said to be carcinogens).

Would I buy another Butter polish? I would (an already have, eep!) depending on the colour.

What do you ladies think of this colour? Do you like Butter London polishes?

5 Perfect Polish Colours for Summer Toes

6/21/13

Ths summer is a time when everyone is groomed to the nines: hair colour, nail colour, toenail colour, tanned and/or golden bronzed skin are just among the features that women fuss over to achieve "perfection". While some of those features comes naturally, like highlights and your tanned skin, picking out a perfect toe-polish can be a little trickier. On one hand, you don't want your toes looking bruised or a weird blue/green colour but on the other hand you don't want a toe colour that's too nude/flesh-toned and boring.
I rounded up 5 colours from my nail polish collection that I wear a lot throughout the summer on my toes.

From Left to Right: OPI in You Only Live Twice, Sation in Love at First Lavender, China Glaze in Riveting, Essie in Turquoise and Caicos, Essie in She's Pampered

Toes can be so weird, but still groomed!

Basically, the colours by shade would be: a fuchsia red with gold glitters, a bright or neon lavender, a bright or neon orange, a light blue or turquoise, and a bright hot pink or hot fuchsia. Yellow nail colour is also super big this season, unfortunately I haven't been able to find a yellow nail polish that I love. Any suggestions?

I absolutely love anything colourful and bright for the summer. Bright colours look especially good next to tanned skin - where they tend to "pop" against tan skin. Neon nail colours are a big trend right now and anything super bright goes, so if you're afraid of being too bold - don't be! Summer 2013: The Bolder the Better, honestly.

What nail colours do you ladies love for the sunny summer months?

June Topbox | Products and Impressions

6/17/13

This past week I was quite stressed and to be honest that didn't make me as excited as I usually am to receive my monthly TopBox surprise. Needless to say, that when I opened it, I was yet again pleased with what was inside! This is another beauty exclusive box with no skincare items, but that is a-okay with me since I'm already a beauty addict. It just feeds the addiction, am I right ladies?

Left to Right: Belvada Mini Eyelash Curler, Pari Lip Paint in Red, Benefit Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Gloss, China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Jungle Queen

Up close you can see the blue-purple shimmers in the greyish purple nail polish from China Glaze.

The tube is nice and slanted for an easy straight to the lip application.

Swatches of Pari Lip Paint in Red (top) and Benefit Sugarbomb gloss (bottom)

Down and...

up! Curl away beauty queens.

The mini eyelash curler from Belvada even includes an extra plastic curling band safely tucked in at the bottom of the tool but easily removable. This little guy is just 5.99 at the Belvada site

From first impression this set looks pretty great for 15$.
The China Glaze colour in Jungle Queen isn't a colour I would normally pick out, for me it's a little too grey (without trying to be grey). I'll tend to wear this in the fall, but since I already own so many other beautiful darker colours with colour bases it might not get picked out a lot. You can get China Glaze lacquer at almost any beauty salon.

The Pari Lip Paint in Red is something I will definitely use and if I fall inlove with the colour the full size will be get a coveted spot on my beauty wishlist! I couldn't find this product online, but it should be available at Pari Beauty Stores and Sears stores.

The Benefit Sugarbomb gloss is something I would use for day to day use, as I haven't used it for a full days wear yet I can't say if I would actually purchase the full size item (15ml) at 19$. The colour seems like a nice nude pink that would go well with any skintone, which I assume is it's intention!

Did you ladies receive this TopBox? What did you think of this month's products?

Sephora and Disney: Little Mermaid Ariel Collection

6/14/13

Another Disney collection with Sephora! This is sort of exciting, I guess we have many more to look forward to as well since there are many Disney movies remaining to be transformed into palettes.

Storybook Palette for the Ariel Collection

source makeuptalk

The palette is beautiful, something for neutral lovers and colour lovers all around. I'm really excited to finally get my paws on a Disney|Sephora Compact, and I'm hoping I'll get the Arial one!
I'm also intrigued to see if the smaller palette will be good, it seems like more my speed.
The storybook palette is priced at 66$ at Sephora Online.

What do you ladies think of this collection? Will you bite the bait and grab an item?

Stila: Glow in the Dark Lipsticks | Thoughts

6/11/13

This is probably old news by now, but I'm still mesmerized by the idea of glow in the dark lipstick!
I've gotten used to the idea of neon nails and toenails and above all, neon clothing and accessories, but adding fluorescent to your lips? Mind. Blown.

source: styleinsider

You apply the lipsticks and expose your lacquered lips to sunlight for a certain period of time, allowing the lipstick to charge up with the sun's delicious rays. After which you'll scurry off to your favourite rave or black-lit nightclub and your lips glow the colour of your choice with all the furry of the moon!

 source: beautylish

I haven't tried these lipsticks yet and as I'm not an avid raver or black-light party go-er, I'm not sure I'll pick one up. Altho I will say I'm intrigued by the fluorescent trend, what will come next? Fluorescent mascara (now that i'd try!), eyeshadow or eyeliner, blush?

What do you ladies think of this beauty trend? Brilliant or Blasphemous?

Spreading some Beauty Guru Love: Nicole Guerriero

6/7/13

As much as I'm camera shy, I really do love to watch videos that others create, especially beauty makeup videos on youtube-land! (as you already know... ;) )
I wanted to share with you one of my favourite beauty gurus on youtube, whose videos I never skip and always watch. I love her style, the way she speaks and her passion for beauty! What I really admire is her ability to be herself, and be goofy and silly infront of the camera and in videos that she uploads onto youtube (let's not forget that this site is accessible to everyone in the world that can access the Internet!).
For that, I can watch her videos all day, great advice with silliness and fun :)

Her name is Nicole Guerriero and here is her most recent VLOG video:
