Payot Haul | Athens

7/29/13

I'm having a lovely vacation currently in Europe...one more week left and then I'm back at work. Although, this vacation is not without its beauty hauls, as small as they may be for now. I made one small haul in Athens at Payot since it's hard to find in the North Americas. One product that is a staple in my skincare stash and another new product that I thought would be worthwhile to try, after all they were have a 25% off promotion!

I got the Payot My Payot Mask which is a radiance and brightening mask for facial skin and the Pate Grise which is a clay based spot products for all kinds of pimples (especially the larger harder to get rid of red bumps). I also received a sample for the BB cream in light.

Packaging for the two products.

The new packaging for the Pate Grise is slightly different as the container is now clear glass instead of white glass. I really prefer the pot format and the fact that this is now a clear glass jar - I'm better able to judge what's left of the product as refills are needed.

Each pot comes with a seal that can be put back to further protect the cleanliness of the product.

I have been using Pate Grise for years now and this particular product was passed down from my mother who has also been using it for years. I love this product and it really helps get rid of very difficult large red pimples while allowing other pimples to come to a head. I do find that my fast scars less after small acne spots.
I'm excited to try the mask but since radiance and brightening masks are so subjective and vary between skintypes I'm skeptical about this one. The "My Payot" line is a way for Payot to gather a younger clientele. The "My Payot Mask" is suitable for all skintypes and packed chock-full of anti-oxidant rich ingredients.

Have you ladies every tried Payot products? Have you ever tried the Pate Grise product?

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in L'Eclatante 42 | A New Love?

7/20/13

And so my addiction with Chanel continues...
I really, and honestly, can't pass up a Chanel Counter and even more so I can't pass up a product that catches my intrigue. The Velvet Eclatante was one such product, a beautiful yellow-based bright baby pink that caught my attention as I was passing through Geneva.

Inside, the lipstick comes with instructions on how to properly open and close the Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks. The infamous perfect "click" of the cap.

Double Cs in Gold - another classic

Natural light - swatch of Chanel of Rouge Allure Velvet in L'Eclatante 42

I do wish I had taken a lip-swatch to show you the colour on lips! It is quite opaque and smooth, but with one fault: it's application is a little streaky. Also, ensure that your lips are moisturized or else it will catch on any dry areas there may be.
L'Eclatante is true to her name, a stunningly brilliant colour that's very bold to wear on slightly darker complexions like mine (dark hair, dark eyes, dark brows and light olive skin), that said, it would suit lighter complexions perfectly. The texture is smooth and creamy - matte without being drying.
The packaging is gorgeous, it's exactly one of those lipsticks you're not ashamed to pull our of your perfectly styled clutch on a night out on the town or a date with your beau. There's one thing I consistently love about Chanel: the packaging, it's the classiest packaging that adorns any make-up item, in my opinion.
I don't regret buying this colour, but would I repurchase it based on this first impression? I'm not so sure. This type of bright pink may be easy to dupe and for approximately 45$CAD a pop, I'm not sure it's worth it. But if you like the texture of the Velvet Allure lipsticks and the packaging of Chanel along with the bright pink colour, then this may be right up your alley for the steamy summer months.

Swatchtime | Cuccio Colour in Jamaica Me Crazy

7/19/13

There are a few things that I've discovered through receiving the TopBox packages every month. One of those things is the Cuccio Colour nail polishes, which are made in Italy. And what kind of a girl doesn't like a thing or two that's made in Italy? ;)
In June 2013, I received my second full bottle from this brand, a cool dusty indigo mauve.

I absolutely love this colour as it's a more subdued blue hue, perfect for a less flashy event, as in work events, or even for work itself. A lovely colour for Spring but easily transitioned into Summer.
These polishes don't chip easily, dry quickly and seem to be long lasting.

Have you tried Cuccio Colour? What do you think of this colour?

TopBox Reveal | June 2013

7/17/13

Okay, yes I know I'm super late on this at the moment, but better late than never right? I received my June TopBox right before I left for Europe (yes, I'm in Europe right now, eeee!) and was able to take some pictures!

sample of Belvada One Moment Essential Day Cream

This cream has pearl and gold particles in it, which are supposed to help with circulation, the "healthy glow" and smoothness of the facial skin.

A sheet mask! Excited to try one since I have never used one before. These are very popular in Asia and have started to make their way to the West!

Instructions on the masks' application.

Another full-size Cuccio Colour nailpolish. This one is a purple-blue, almost a true indigo colour, very unique for any nailpolish - I haven't yet seen this colour bottled up!

On top of it all it's called Jamaica Me Crazy. Is that a fitting name? I'm having trouble with it and the colour.

I haven't tried any of the products yet, except for the nail polish - a brand that I've already come to appreciate, but I'm excited to try all the products in this months TopBox.
I'm a less excited for the Belvada Daily Creme with the pearl and gold particles since I'm not sure I'll ever feel comfortable using gold and pearls on my face for my skincare routine (can we say baller?).
I'm fairly please with this months box as I do like receiving full nail polish products (so much better than buying them!) as well as skincare samples like the mask and cream.

Did you guys receive this months TopBox? What did you think of the products inside?

Ulta Haul | June 2013

7/15/13

Haul times are always my favourite times.
I'm notoriously known for being able to spend hours upon hours at an Ulta, Sephora or Duty Free Boutique (as well as various drugstores) browsing the aisles for all the wondrous and magical products that offer what seems like beauty dreams.
However, for this particular jaunt I came ready with a beauty list and, during a carefree whim, decided to add on a few items.

All the goodies!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

NYX HD Studio Matte Powder Foundation

Sally Hansen Wax Strips (I always double up on these since they can never go bad and are so handy for summertime)

Butter London Polish in Rosie-Lee

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in Beige

NYX Gel Liner in Teal/03 Danielle

I've already tried Rosie-Lee and the Expert Face Brush and I'm happy to say that I already love both products! I'm most excited to try the NYX Teal Eyeliner and to even use it as a smudge-r for those hotter summer nights when your makeup will smudge either.
The NYX Powder foundation was an alternative to the MAC Foundation, and I will properly compare the two. I can already tell you that the NYX Powder is only half the amount of the MAC Powder - something to consider.

Which products are you most excited for this summer? Ever tried any of these products?

Strickingly Sweet Junes | 2013

7/3/13

It's July? Say whaaaaat?
Did everyone have a good Canada Day Weekend? (all my Canadians out there, holla!)
It was so nice to have another long weekend in Montreal where I get to relax and just do what I want.
Canada Day, being celebrated on July 1st, also means that it's the beginning of July! Six month of 2013 are finished and for some reason that excites me... I'm not sure why at the moment.
Either way, I wanted to show you guys my June 2013 favourites, as I'm quite excited for these since  I've recently discovered I can't live without them.

NYX HD Concealer in Beige, Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion, Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy, Smashbox Hydrating Under Eye Primer, Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes in Pink Grapefruit, Origins Ginzeng Eye Cream, Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Seashell (LE product)

The combination of the Under Eye Primer and the NYX HD concealer in phenomenal. It doesn't cake and it really covers my under eye dark circles! The Cheek Stain from Tarte is also great for a dewy look but it doesn't always stay put all day since it is more of a cream blush than an actual stain.

The Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes are gentle enough to remove makeup and cleanse your face those late nights when you're just too tired to hunch over the sink! This doesn't leave my face too dry or too greasy and it takes everything right off. It has not made me break out and it doesn't sting my eyes during makeup removal.

I love the eye cream, so far I've seen very gradual results (creams like these are never overnight) but with water, regular sleep and good eye cream I'm confident they will wear away...

Bobbi Brown shadow in seashell is a very light neutral pink that tend to be on the white side. It's still very pigmented and it's great to wash over lid with a bit of black mascare for an effortless everyday look!

What did you ladies think of these products? What are your favourite products recently?
