Boyfriends Stealing Your Products? Here's what they should steal | IX Daily

9/30/13

I know I've been MIA these past couple days, and I promise I'll make it up to you. Work and life is finally catching up with me, as is my lack of sleep, and it's harder to find the energy to write these amazing posts.
Recently I was able to write a post for IX Daily that I think would really benefit you (and most importantly: your boyfriend): a post on what beauty items a boyfriend should steal from his girlfriend!
No, I don't advocate black eyeliner and red lips a la Robert Pattinson (altho more power to him if he goes for it!), but I do advocate for good skincare, hair care and grooming. Let's face, those are things we all want from our boyfriends: a little more primped and primed but hopefully not too high maintenance.

What do you think? Does your boyfriend every steal any of your products?

9/23/13

There's one thing I'm constantly obsessed with: a super hot lip colour. For Fall, that super hot lip colour is a beautiful red or deep red to wine colour.
So check out my post for Indecent Xposure on my top 5 recommended lip colours as well as how to apply your perfect red!

I love rocking a red lip to a glam event, an ordinary lunch rendez-vous or even just a rainy day.

Dry Hair? | Three Moisturizing Oils for Dry Tresses

9/20/13

With the weather get colder, our body tends to lose quite a bit of moisture. Our hair especially battles the cold and dry weather everyday while being especially exposed to those elements.
So from friends and other fellow bloggers I compiled a short, but powerful list, or 3 oils that will do wonders to re-hydrate, silken and protect your hair.

1. Josie Maran Argan Oil

This is generally a multi-purpose product, but used wisely on hair, it can hydrate even the most crazy mane. Argan oil is super hydrating, so all you need is a small quantity mid-length down to the roots.
This is also a great product for skin care - which I can definitely attest for.
Josie Maran Argan Oil can be found here online and at Sephora stores.

2. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is one of my personal favourites. A dry oil, it hydrates wonderfully without leaving a greasy feeling behind. This is also a multi-purpose product, great for skin as well and can be found at Nuxe retailer as well as online.

3. Moroccanoil

Moroccanoil is a cult beauty haircare favourite. This can be spotted at almost any renowned beauty salon and most of my dry-haired lady friends already have this bottle of gold. Moroccanoil can be used at any time, but it's most effective when applied after a shower and especially after blow-drying your hair. It can be found here.

Do you have any haircare favourites?

September TopBox Reveal | 2013

9/17/13

This month's TopBox was packed with super useful items - including a Beauty edition of the Chatelaine mag - with beautiful and unique packaging.

I was quite pleased with this month's items: one Beauty edition of the Chatelaine Magazine, Wella Thermal Image Heat Protecting spray (full size), CoverFX Anti-Aging Primer, Lise Watier Age Control Tint in Natural and the Lancome Tresor perfume.

The Wella Heat Protectant spray (in full size format!!) is something I'm excited to use since I tend to curl and straighten my hair from time to time.
The Chatelaine magazine is impressive but it lacks some of the variety found in other style and beauty magazines - a good try though.
The CoverFX anti-aging and Lise Watier age control products are for an older market and I'm not sure I will get much use out of them. The Lise Watier Age Control Tint in Natural has pink undertones and tends to learn towards the cool side.
Tresor by Lancome is a nice but complex floral scent. Unfortunately it fades quickly and doesn't mix well with my own scent.

Have you ladies ever tried any of these products?

Kiss and Makeup | Victoria's Secret

9/13/13

Remember when you were little and you'd get into a fight with a sibling or a friend and your mom would say "Why don't you just kiss and makeup?" After which, you'd probably respond with something like "Ewwwwwwww, not kissing!".
I mean, nobody wants cooties.
How wrong is it that I still feel that way? People have cooties, fact
But I digress, what I really wanted to show you was this super cute makeup bag from Victoria's Secret. If you're anything like me, you always need more makeup storage. So when I walked in to my friendly neighbourhood VS, I found just the thing.

Aie, cute polka dot interior! My heart stopped!

Come on, can't we just all kiss and makeup? ;)

What's your favourite makeup storage?

Ulta End of Summer Haul | Tarte

9/12/13

I sorely wish we had an Ulta here, I love Sephora, but Ulta really has the best of both worlds: drugstore and high end cosmetics. So of course when I'm in the States I'll usually hunt down an Ulta store, maybe steal whatever coupons my sister has, and get my haul on.
That is exactly what I did for this particular day...

I got the mini Harajuku Lovers Tweezerman tweezers, Tarte LipSurgence LipShine in Smitten, Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Flushed, Tarte Natural Cheek Tint in Achiote (limited edition) and Tarte ModernEyes Waterproof Creaseless shadow/liner duo in plumberry/plum brown. I also got a sample size of the Tarte Maracuja C-Brightener eye treatment!

The package that most, but not all, of my Tarte products came in!

Swatches from left to right: LipSurgence in , Natural Tint in Achiote, Amazonian Clay in Flushed, ModernEyes liner (plum brown) and the ModernEyes shadow stick (plumberry).

All in all, I've really been enjoying the blushes and the liner/shadow duo since I've purchased them. I haven't tried the blushes out as much but those are my next targets.
It also seems like I'm having quite the obsession with Tarte lately. They have great products and the ingredients are solid. No pthalates, parabens, petrolatum etc. And they add helpful skincare ingredients like Shea Butter, Vitamin C, Vitamin E etc.

Have you ladies ever tried any of these products? What do you think of the Tarte brand?

The Precious Past

9/11/13

I love vintage.
This, to most people, does not come as a shock. However, this shocks me.
I've never been one to love a vintage item. I don't usually like the old-fashioned designs and have always marveles at the new and up-and-coming things. But lately, I've been finding treasures in all things past and vintage. Specifically, in my Grandma's closet! This summer, I went to visit her and other family in Athens, Greece. During my visit, my Grandma and I went though her (large) closet, and  it became obvious that she was one chic chick back in her day! Needless to say, I stole (with permission of course) a few items from her wardrobe that she no longer uses, and I am so excited to sport these delicacies around the city.

I also stole some vintage sunglasses from my father's collection, which he wore back in his Concordia University days. These sunnies look badass when they're on on... and I plan on pairing them with the perfect leather jacket.

Are you loving vintage items as much as I am lately?

Review and Swatchtime | Tarte Tipsy Cheek Tint

9/9/13

One thing I really love in the summer in dewy and glowy skin, and so I tended to use products that would give me that effects - including spending a little time in the sun.
One of those products was the Tarte Tipsy Cheek stain, a product that was bought for me on accident, but what a happy accident it was! You see, I had requested that my sister buy me the Tarte Tipsy Amazonian Clay blush but instead I got this little beauty.

Pre-blended, once blended it's absolutely lovely and dewy!

A swatch of the blush on my cheek, it gives a really nice glow effect to the skin all in all.

The colour payoff for Tarte Tipsy is beautiful, pigmented and build-able, which I absolutely love about this product.
The packaging completely makes sense as its nice to have a push-up product instead of a vial where I have to dig for it. My biggest pet peeve is getting gunk under my nails while I'm applying make-up!
The longevity on this product is not quite good, as it only seems to last about 4-6 hours on me whereas I'd really prefer for it to last the 8 hour workday. Unfortunately, I think that most dewy products are not long-lasting.
The application of this product can be a little tricky. I don't like to take it straight from the stick but prefer to use either a regular blush brush or my fingertips. A regular blush brush works very well and allows the product to be evenly blended. The product can be a little sticky and will remain a little dewy/sticky on the skin until it wears away, which is a bit of a downside. I don't mind the dewy texture but I really don't like the sticky aspect.
At a price point of $36CAD it is a little pricey for a blush stick. Would I repurchase this product? I'm not sure if I'd repurchase as I think there are better creme blushes that can give a nice dewy glow like this out there.

My rating: 7/10
Good point for packaging and colour payoff as well as application. Points off for shot lasting power and a sticky aspect to the product

What do you ladies think of this product? Have you ever tried a Tarte Cheek Stain before?

Strikingly Sweet Augustas | 2013

9/5/13

I'm pretty sad August is over, I can't believe it's already September. It's crazy how in Montreal it got chilly as soon as September hit, and the nights got shorter as well.
With that depressing note, I cheered myself up by thinking of my favourites beauty items for the month of August.

Oh yes, come to mama.
Oil-Free Cleaning Wipes in Pink Grapefruit: Love these wipes! They take all the makeup off my face when I'm feeling lazy but the don't sting my eyes as much when I'm taking it off my face. Please do not use these directly on your eyes as they WILL sting if you do that (I use Bioderma for eyes).

Maybelline Vivid Lipsticks in 875 Vivid Rose: I've worn this lipcolour so much this month. This is a bright fuchsia that looks great on brunettes with darker features, I've even worn this to work and got some major compliments. I absolutely adore wearing bright lipcolours and this colour can easily translate into Fall beauty.

The Body Shop Lip Butter in Mango: A few posts ago I did a first impressions post on this little guy and how amazingly moisturizing he is. Well, I use a little bit before bed every night and my lips constantly feel moisturized now. Miracle worker!

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Very Black: I'm usually not a Maybelline fan but this month I'm blown away by them. They've really stepped up their game and I'm impressed. This mascara is amazing, it gives length and volume without clumpiness; a new drugstore mascara favourite!!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes eyeliner in Nude: Perfect colour for the waterline, better than my Chanel pencil in Blanc. It's a more natural colour while still brightening up the eye. Be careful not too apply too much or else it becomes obvious!

One thing I don't like about the Maybelline Mascara packaging is how easy the writing rubs off! Atleast I'll always know which mascara it is by the bottle!
