Real Review #7 | L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer in Light

This week's real review will be a review of the Magic Lumi Concealer from L'Oreal. Is it better as a highlighter or a concealer?

I purchased L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer in Light after hearing rave reviews from other beauty gurus. After trying it, I've discovered that it may be better suited as a subtle highlighter rather than a full coverage sort of concealer. I'm wondering if it was developed to mimic something along the lines of YSL's Touch Eclat concealer stick.

It comes in a small twist up stick, where the product comes out of the brush end. I find the application is handy, as you can apply it to your face in the direction that you desire. However, for the amount of packaging, there isn't much product in the actual package. As such, the price point is sort of high for a drugstore concealer, the L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer is about $12CAD for 1.5ml while a MAC Pro-Longwear concealer is $20CAD for 9ml - big price difference per ml there.

The pigmentation is light to medium coverage, and the light colour will be perfect for lighter skintones of various undertones as the concealer has fairly neutral base. I'm not able to perfectly hide imperfections but it gives my under-eye a nice boost of brightness mid-day.

The texture is creamy and easily blend-able. I find applying too much can leave the area with a cakey feel, but applying a small amount will subtly brighten the area with no sign of cakey-ness. If worn directly under the eye, the product does tend to crease.

I don't find this product to be super long-lasting, I wouldn't trust it to stay put for an entire day or longer than just a few hours. However, I do apply this mid-day or at the end of a workday before going out for a drink, as it does brighten the areas needed. For that effect, I think it does make a nice natural beige highlighter in it's "light" colour.

- Subtle beige highlight with subtle reflective power
- Easily accessible (available at most drugstores)
- Creamy consistency
- Brush applicator
- Great for on the go!

- High $$ per ml
- Not a high coverage concealer
- Not long-lasting
- Can crease after a long wear

What I mean is that I would not buy it as a concealer, but it does work well as a subtle highlighter than I can easily keep with me in my purse and on the go. I'd even bring this with me on a long haul flight - to bright up the under eye area afterwards.

Have you ever tried this product?

  1. I think id use it as a highlighter and if it conceals a little as well that's a bonus. Do you know if they sell this in the Uk?

    1. I'm not sure! It's L'Oreal Paris, so if you take a trip to Paris you might find it, if you can't find it in the UK.
Or else, here's an amazon link if you'd like to purchase:

  2. Ah I'd really love to try this but the fact it's not long lasting puts me off a little xx
