July Favourites | 2014

Left to Right: Josie Maran Argan Colour Stick, VS Hypergloss Eye Shimmer, MAC Quarry
During the Summer season I tend to keep very low-key daily makeup routine - everything is down to a minimum: foundation, concealer, a dash of blush and a few swipes of mascara. So instead of doing an updated Summer routine post, I'm going to go ahead and tell you my Summer beauty secrets! (a.k.a. which products I'm loving for July/Summer and why)

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara - I love this mascara's formula, it lengthens and darkens my lashes giving me a polished wide-eye effect look. The formula is a little drier than most, but I'm lovin' it and use it every day. I reviewed Miss Manga here on KB.

Julep Beach Tonic Dry Oil - Dry Oils are amazing to use in the summer as they absorb quickly without the heavy feel of lotions and creams. I love using this before and after sun-tanning, especially post-shower.

Josie Maran Argan Colour Stick in Red Carpet (LE)m- The colour stick formula is really convenient for applying blush in minutes, after applying I blend it out quickly with my fingers. The only downside is that on it's own it doesn't last for more than 4-5 hours. However, if you apply a powder blush lightly on top of it, the lasting power is longer but you lose the dewy effect. I've been using it alone and loving the effect for the summer time, as it enhances my already flushed cheeks. Bonus: this can also be used on the lips and has a light citrusy scent!

Victoria's Secret Hypergloss Eye Shimmer in Golden Lights - I've never been interested in super high glitter and shimmer but this beautiful golden shimmer eye gloss by Victoria's Secret is amazing. It makes my eyes look glossy, as the name would suggest, and vibrant as the glitter reflects light and makes me look more awake. Perfect must for on-the-go and quick 5 minute morning routines.

MAC Barefoot Eyeshadow (LE) - Another beautiful golden shadow. Since I'm olive toned, gold shadows are my best friend - I can wear them alone or with a multitude of other colours. I've been wearing Barefoot as one of my daytime shadows and I always look polished for every occasion.

MAC Quarry Eyeshadow - I purchased this shade as a classic "transition shade", and it's truly beautiful to wear in the crease with sable, expensive pink or any cool toned eyeshadow. I believe I could also wear this shade on the lid with a darker shadow in the crease to give an extra smokey effect - I haven't tried it yet, but I will!
