Colourpop Super Shock Shadows | Review & Swatches: Holiday and Permanent Collections

12/27/14

I recently heard about the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows through various youtubers and decided to take the plunge and order some earlier this month. I ended up purchasing one holiday set and a few shadows that are part of the permanent collection.

First, let's talk about the pigmentation. It's Ah-mazing. They're all super saturated and apply from the pan perfectly. Some of them look even better on skin than they do in the pot. The two shades on the far left can actually stain the skin (they stained my arm), so i recommend using them with a base so they don't stain your lids. Those shades are Hot Totty (hot cherry reddish pink) and Roulette (matte black).

The texture is also great, its not a powder and not completely a cream either. It's somewhere in the middle: a creamy shadow pot. They're easy to apply and even easier to blend. The only tip I have here is that it's better to apply them on with your finger for an all-over lid colour, as a brush won't always get the full effect. However, for the crease and to blend them out, I use a brush. They don't irritate my eyes and I don't experience any fall-out either! I've worn I Heart This out for a full day and the lasting power is great as well, about 6-8 hours (without primer!) and I still had some colour and the glitters on my lids!

The packaging is bulky, it's a twist off and I'm not sure you can depot them without affecting the integrity of the product. I would love to see these in a palette! However, the twist off is secure so that the creamy shadows don't dry out, and I'm not sure how that would work in a palette? Maybe if they can figure out a secure way to put them in palette form so the shadows won't dry out - then these would be fabulous! Especially since the price point is only at 5$ a pop, and with 35$ you get free shipping in the USA! Super affordable and a great deal. So far, the only place you can find them is online at Colourpop.com

Would I repurchase the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows? Absolutely! They've just come out with a real matte collection, and I'd love to try those out. There's also two other shadows I'm really interested in grabbing: Game Face and Smash. I really wish I would've grabbed Drift while it was available, but alas it seems to have been limited edition!

Once I get a better test drive of their neutrals, I'm definitely going to be purchasing some of the more "colourful" shadows to play with.

Have you tried these Colourpop Super Shock Shadows
